From Saga Prefecture of Kyushu Island, Saga-Gyu (Saga Beef) is premium quality Wagyu beef with an increased marbling characteristic that results in naturally enhanced flavour, tenderness and juiciness all of which are exquisite.


The succulent and buttery taste of Saga-Gyu will surely impress fine dining connoisseurs in the Saga Beef Promotion Menu created specially for JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa by renowned Chef Nakahara from Kira Restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo and Chef Norio Nomoto, Japanese Head Chef of Tsu Japanese Restaurant &

Nami Teppanyaki Steakhouse at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok.


Chef Nakahara’s more than 30 years of culinary experience has included eight years as Head Chef at Kira Restaurant, over 20 years at Saga Tokyu-in Hotel and four and a half years teaching cooking at Hiraoka Cooking School.




Chef Norio brings to Thailand 25 years of cook experience in Japanese food. He has worked for the JW Marriott Hotel Group for over 6 years. He has been honored to serve important personalities such as the King and Queen of Malaysia, Malaysian prime minister, Indian prime minister, Japanese foreign minister. Movie stars and celebrity singers are also on his profile list including Sophie Marceau, tennis player Maria Sharapova, and a private cooking class for Jackie Chan.


The Saga Beef Promotion Menu takes place at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s acclaimed Kabuki Japanese Cuisine Theatre on Thursday January 22 to Saturday January 24 from 5 pm to 10 pm, and is priced at THB 3,800++ per person with 6 premium courses including a glass of Ozeki Silver Sake.




The menu features four types of Saga Beef appetizers, namely Rolled Beef Tempura with Curry Salt, Temari Beef Sushi, Slow Cooked Beef Coated with Bonito Flake and Cold Beef Shabu with Spicy Ponzu. This is followed with Chilled Custard Soup with King Crab and Scallop, Kira Style and then a serving of Stainable Yellowfin Tuna smoked on the Teppanyaki. The superb main course is Saga Striploin Steak with Honey Mustard. The delightful dessert is Thai Tropical Fruits Gratin with Vanilla Ice-cream.
